Job Posting: RECE - Split Shift 5.5 hours.  Full time hours on school breaks and summer camp

Position: Registered Early Childcare Educator (RECE)

We are a large non-profit, school-based childcare centre with a 40+ year history providing exceptional care to children ages 3-12. We’re looking for a creative & energetic RECE who enjoys providing quality care for children in an active team environment. We pride ourselves on providing staff with a supportive work environment, competitive pay ($28.50/hour) and excellent benefits.

Ideal RECE candidates are innovative and have strong programming skills based on “How Does Learning Happen” as well as excellent behaviour guidance skills that include problem solving, positive-reinforcement and redirection strategies. We’re looking for motivated, enthusiastic and positive team players. Experience planning and delivering an emergent curriculum with school agers is a must.

This position is primarily 3½ hours after school including 1 hour programming per day, with full-time hours on school breaks.
Rate is $28.50 per hour


Additional supply hours are available if desired. This is a great opportunity for long-term employment in a high quality childcare centre. We are steps away from Chester Subway.


Requirements for the successful candidates include but are not limited to:

  • Membership in good standing in the College of ECEs
  • Experience working closely as a team player in a licensed childcare centre; however, new grads will be considered
  • Knowledge & experience implementing ELECT and “How Does Learning Happen”
  • Knowledge & experience maintaining standards of childcare policies, the Child Care and Early Years Act and the City’s AQI
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR
  • Proficiency with the English language; strong verbal and written English language skills
  • Ability to lift up to 15 kilos, bend down, sit on the floor and frequently walk up 3 flights of stairs
  • Comfortable swimming and supervising children on field trips
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication skills with an emphasis on teamwork
  • Ability to interact with children in a positive manner and discuss daily events with families
  • Flexible; adapts easily to change; confident working with others in a demanding work environment.
